Hello,I recently bought a 2006 mustang with built internals and a supercharger. It goes like crazy (609 HP at the wheels on a dyno) but gets about 6 MPG. On the highway, 10. I really like the car - my first mustang - but it is rough as a daily driver. I put the quietest mufflers I could find - dynomax super-turbos, and it still makes my ears ring after half an hour. And the supercharger behaves oddly in that it often does not spool down, so the car really runs away from itself. It is a great drag car, but I need a daily driver. I thought this was what I wanted, but this is really a great second car, and I need a first car. I attempted to sell the car on ebay, but no dice. After three tries, I owe ebay $45 in listing fees. Fool me four times, shame on me.The way I see it, I can swap in a stock/basic? motor and try to sell the engine out of this car, or perhaps try to rebuild the engine without the supercharger. I understand the car has 8.7 compression as built, so taking the supercharger off I can assume will be unsatisfying, if that is even possible. Any suggestions for me?Thanks,Derrick
ebay is not the place to sell it.. craigs list.. is probably better for local buyers.. but beware.. don't accept money orders.. don't accept a lot of stuff..there is also a site called racing junk.. i have not tried to sell anything there. as i am a horder of automotive tools and manuals.. but i use them.. there is a big list of things to NOT DO.. including solo test drives.. transferring the car at the DMV.. so its out of your name before they take the wheel.. as you are or can be held responsible if they crash it into somebody.. if they don't register it in their name.. do you have a scan tool. to see where the fuel trims are.. make sure you are not running in default.. or have other issues.. because you have a supercharger and all the tuning stuff to go with it.. well.. who knows what the data stream is going to look like.. is the car still drive by wire??? which engine did your car originally come with.. the V6 or the V8... finding a wrecked mustang with the proper engine /transmission and the exact year as yours.. you could actually unbolt everything and move it back into your car.. engine. transmission, wiring harnesses..fuel lines.. cooling system. exhaust system. cats... computers.. who knows what else was modified.. just curious.. is it the fuel economy that's your biggest complaint.. or the noise??as you can extend the exhaust over the rear axle and out under the back bumper.. to reduce some of the undercar noise.. aim it at the people behind you eating your dust.. and hearing it too.. my 66 GTO was loud like that.. it was five years after i sold it.. that i was able to start hearing vacuum leaks again.. on a quiet night in tarzana a friend borrowed my GTO to make a parts run.. i was about half way up the hills.. i heard him abusing my GTO for 10 minutes as he headed north toward the parts store.. yes.. he came back with a HUGE smile on his face..
