Check out these pics, I have a 79 Ford F150 Stepwise that I and rebuilding a bit of. The seat upholstery was badly damaged so I removed it all and found some broken connections In the metal frame lower. Two spring connections and the left side main frame connections.Any thoughts or suggestions here? Thanks,
sure... thats easily fixed.. you can use a coupling nut as a weld in hanger for the spring end.. drill the threads out.. so it has a smooth bore before welding it in.. just be sure that the area above the loops where the spring ends are.. is smooth.. as the material can rub that area and tear if there is something sharp to snag on.. the broken weld on the seat base is also easily welded ..you might want to wire brush the rusty areas give them a good coating of paint.. let it dry a day or two before you put the upholstery back on.. hint.. you can use carpet as a primary base across the springs.. to give it added strength..
Great thanks for the reply. This is good info. I'll try the carpet too!
yeah you are wormly welcome bro
