I am new to this building v8 motors. I have experience in rebuilding top ends of 4cyl cavaliers and timing them. I'm currently building a 391001 GM block I believe its an early 70's block. it currently has stock heads on it now but ran across a set of 906 heads off a 98 Tahoe and the new intake to fit it to my block. my current heads of roller rocker tips, my question is what is needed to do the swap on my motor
Easy swap, get 2 head gaskets and intake gaskets for the Vortec heads.

I think the intake bolts might be a different size and you will have to use self aligning rocker arms. Don't forget they also use center bolt valve covers too.
I am going to be measuring the retainer to valve seal clearance on a set of these in 1 or 2 months on a build I am working on cuz I here they don't handle much lift. You have an aftermarket cam?
