I would appreciate any information as to my question: I am entertaining the thought of dropping my 1963 mercury Marauder body on a later frame with rear coil springs and disc brakes etc. Perhaps a 1973 up LTD? Any one have any input? ThanksDavid / arpoker52
how about a 2000 era cop car style crown vic instead?
If that would work better (fabrication wise) that would be good! However do you have any experience as to this?Appreciate the time and interest you took in your reply!Thank YouDavidHolland,New York
sir you will probably be the first person on the planet to try this. get out the measuring tape, get a trusted friend with another measuring tape. measure times, cut once. you might need to Z cut the frame to correct the wheel base. you no doubt will need to duplicate the body mounting points of the old frame on the new frame. take pictures, measure, step back and think, then think some more. if you need help ask questions. my brother and my self have together installed more than one body on a different chassis, so have many other folks. this is probably a pretty good idea overall chassis wise as an upgrade. dont be afraid to ask once you get started, and dont get discouraged. if you dont have welding/cutting skills find a limo builder. or walk away NOW!!!
I appreciate the get back, and yes I do understand the to do list...been there and done that thing. I also have done the different year body/frame transfers and understand only too well what you are making reference to! Through the years I have done my share, however I also understand that there are people out there that may have done such projects so therefor I ask if anyone has done the specifics on this project. I also understand that the 1963 Ford/Merc project that I am doing may? not be the most attempted one so here we go.Again dond1965 thank you very much for your concern, it is appreciated!!!David/arpoker52Holland,New York
my pleasure, good luck with your project, have a great day!!
