I am looking for aftermarket wheels to replace my 13" wheels with 4 stud holes. (not much available out there). I have a 7.5 diff ring gear. I remember reading a side note 2-3 years ago about changing front rotors with 86 Aerostar rotors with a bearing and seal replacement with a slight lathe cut. Rear axles are also needed to replace the 4 hole flange with a 5 hole flange. What tricks or info can you recommend? Bob Preston
there are a lot of magazines here... and 4 mustang and ford specific versions..http://www.mustangmonthly.com/howto/mump_1201_how_to_convert_to_fox_body_five_lug_wheels/http://www.mustang50magazine.com/techarticles/m5lp_0606_fox_mustang_five_lug_conversion/viewall.htmlperhaps these will help...i know there are several more ..
ps.. i had an 83 thunderbird.. 4 lug rims.. original wheels were the 365 or 390 metric that are impossible to find tires for.. got a set of 87 thunderbird turbo coupe wheels and some 235/65-16 inch tires. and LOVED IT..86 and 87 turbo coupes also had massive sway bars front and rear that swap on.. so you can make it go around corners. warning.. have somebody with welding skills..like a muffler guy who wire feeds all day long.. weld the front sway bar brackets on. they are spot welded only and the massive sway bars will rip them loose.. i use a tiny muffler shop here in la.. he welds them up fast and strong.. as the metal is very similar to the exhaust system thickness so its point and shoot for him.. these are the Brackets that are SPOT welded to the frame.. NOT the parts that bolt the sway bar frame bushing and sway bar onto the bracket.. just thought you should know..
