Just wondering if anyone has tried a cam swapped with the DOD engines? As far as I know the lifters are what is used to work the displacement on demand.  I have a LH8 motor I want to put in my 55 truck but want more then stock power of course, and would like to use the fuel economy benefits of the DOD. Any help would be great!

there are several articles spread out in the many magazines on this site.. on DOD cam issues...

more power, less fuel..  almost leads us back to the question.
how wide do you want your bridge to hawaii.. 2 lanes or 4 lanes..

there is an answer out there..  read thru a bunch of articles..

So I got a reply back from crane cams, they do not offer a DOD cam at this time...

Find a corvette that came with DoD and find someone that knows if that cam is swappable into another DoD LS engine.

My 2007 pickup truck has a factory 367HP 6.0L LS with DoD that you know is cammed for lower end torque versus one for say a Corvette. Didn't the Corvette DoD engines make like 505Hp? And could probably be tweaked for more without emission constraints and a proper tuner.

Considering my truck is probably near 3 tons being a 4x4 4-door, I get around 18mpg highway (75-80mph) and 16mpg around town. A lighter truck would do better. I know if this truck ever get's wrecked I'll probably salvage the engine for a project car.

Of course there is always the option of leaving the stock cam and block in there, up the valve springs and add a turbo. People are getting crazy HP numbers out of stock LS's with just a valve spring swap and turbo.

Just figured out I put LH8 in the header, when its actually a LH6, oops!  So looks like I am gonna eliminate the DOD and run the GMPP stand alone ECM kit. Because who can really handle keeping it stock?! Now which cam....
