Just got a super nice 1964 Ford galaxie convertable. Car was an X code with a automatic. Its been changed to a 427 with a 4 speed toploader. They did a fantastic job. So just trying to find out what I have.
I think its a 1967 side oiler. Not sure. The 427 has the cross (X) bolts, also has the 4 bolts for the motor mounts. It also have the screw in freeze plugs. I can see on the driver's side which I think is the hump (by looking at other pictures)two (2) screw in plugs. I can't find any numbers on the block. I looked on the driver's side in the back. Some one said the is a pad back there with block numbers but I can't find anything. So just trying to find out what I have. If it's a side oiler or a center oiler.
Intake manifold #C7AE-9425-A  (8Vcarb)
Any help would be great!
Thanks, Steve

casting numbers on the block will look similar to this..
this seems to be C8AE-A  block...  so its first use for this design is in a 68 model year.. looking below the date code is august 30 1967... so an early to mid year 1968 car is what this block was first installed in..

notice the bolts that hold the main caps in place from the sides..
100 3164

this is where the block date codes are usually found.. 7H30 would indicate 1967  H+august 30 is the day of the month

Thanks Wayne for all the block pictures of the Ford 427. I am going to go under the car again and look for numbers again.
Thanks, Steve
