Been researching web trying to move forward with project and have questions on engine placement. Is there an absolute best position for the engine with regards to car centerline and/or roll center and/or center of gavity? I'm still using BBC in 1st gen Camaro with an aftermarket subframe and stock firewall. I can adjust the engine back only till cap has min clearance w/firewall. What are thoughts on side to side location and angle. Sub is centered to body within 1/16th (laser) and Dana yoke is 1/2" off center toward passenger side. What are engineering considerations for location? Should crank centerline be parallel to car centerline and what should crank angle be to ground at ride height? Is engine torque best offset if engine is moved right? I know that OEM motor mounts allowed a shift (I think to clear steering box). How does torque center relate to roll center and what compensations are needed? Answers may be really involved, but any help and insight is appreciated.
in simple terms low and back is better than high and forward.using a distributorless ignition system,or summers brother distributor front drive system will help you move back.a dry sump system will help you move down.....good luck
