Hey I was wondering if anyone out there has taken a fwd Monte and done the conversion besides hotrod mag that one is really nice but there is a. Easier way to do this conversion want to know if anyone e has any ideas or maybe built one already and u could send me some pics of how u did it if anyone could help me with some input iam gonna do what no one has done before build it and show everyone the project pics of it and prolly post videos on YouTube too soo hopefully u guys out there that love these Monte Carlos still wanna see one built help me out.... thanks
why not just drop the subframe and engine/transmission combo...install an LS4 and transmission. its a special block and accessory drive for front wheel drive mounting ..it uses the V6 metric bell housing bolt pattern.. has a special offset water pump and short timing cover.. even a special short crank to fit .. with enough cash.. or know how.. anything can be done... like a 500 caddy motor into a chevette.. small block fords into ford contours..
Because I already own a 2006 Monte Carlo as with the ls4 I had the 96 z34 and always dreamed it would be rwd with a 383 stroker 5 speed manual with a t-top roof kinnda a dream although the ls4 is awesome in my 2006 lots of balls but still wouldnt top a rwd Monte Carlo z34 and would benefit be a eye catcher... know of anyone who has done this and has pics of the project there is a video of a red one on YouTube the guy did a really good job he has a few pics on his MySpace but not enough
I'm currently doing the project on the same car.I'm using frame and floor pan out of a 1985 monte. Any gbody should work for the most part. Only 0.5" difference in wheel base verses the 3" difference on the green hotrod monte john miss did in '96.I'm putting in an Ls1 and 4l60e. I might use the entire chassis from the '85.
