Just finishing restoration on the Chevelle and installed front disc brake kit from Jegs. Using stock front anti sway bay and mounting kit but sway bar bolts hit brake calipers on full lock of steering wheel.Mounting bolts are 5" long and sleeves are 3" long. Anyone have this issue? Can I reduce the length of the mounting bolts and sleeves? If so to what size? Will this reduction bind up during corning? Please help?
there are various lengths of sway bar end links...in both stock replacement aftermarket and aftermarket performance versions...usually the answer is YES... http://www.miracerros.com/mustang/sway_links.htmthis link explains the issues with the height of the sway bar ends to keep them parallel with the lower control arms for proper operation... by the way... i have also used chevy motor mount bushings number 2122 and 2123 on sway bar end links... by the way... you might also want to take some measurements of the spacing on the frame mounts.. the arm length.. and the height of the ends vs the frame mounts.. as there are some seriously thicker sway bars on some GM cars in the late 80s in rear wheel drive versions that might just fit.. i am thinking full size caddys.. i don't have an A body any more... but thats what i was planning when i looked at owning one a few years back.. .
Thank You will investigate.
