Anyone with an idea if there is a schedule or if there is going to be an Anti-Tour, this year?

Hopefully.  I hoping for some diversity, Morrow Bay three years in a row would be kind of..... repetitive.

Hey Randall,I agree with you, time for a new destination, its a cool drive and all, some sort of a race would be fun too.
On another note, saw your car on the Drag Week live feed, and on a video I bought from 1320video of Drag Week 2011,and even in some photos on a blog on Moparts.com,,,pretty cool, after reading Moparbilly's blog on DW the last two years, its now on my bucket list, gotta do it at least once...maybe Street Race Big Block N/A??

I stopped by Buttonwillow Raceway a few weeks ago. They have a really nice facility with a road course that has configures for 3.0 mile, 1.8 & 1.1 courses. They also show their backstretch doubles for a drag strip. It is the equivalent of driving distance to Famoso from LA. They have their schedule up already.

If its planned right we could race at both tracks in one weekend. Or, maybe if CC could muster some *** rent each track for a day during the week. (Yeah I know. I am dreaming.) I would be willing to pony up some cash to do that at each track.

We could take a scenic route over the hill to the central valley if you want as well like maybe Angeles Crest to 138.

I race uncompetetively in Street Race Big Block N/A as with the car count is my "best" chances of winning.  I don't race enough to win a bracket race in the daily driver class.

I think this year will be the last run with the Skylark, and going for a turbo six in 2014 if I can pull it off.

I didn't know thats the class you were in,thats the class I was thinking for me,same thing, maybe 2014,I pretty sure I can go low 10's,at least be somewhat competitive...and finish DW hopefully!!
A turbo six as in a Grand National motor in the Skylark?,,that would be a good combo, throw some Cal-Tracs and drag radials on the back, should haul ass.

I'm really going to let the car eat this year.  The heads are out for porting right now and after eating an axle last year I'm likely going to get a professionally built rear end, likely 9", with good axles and probably order it with 3.90'ish gears.  The rear end and fuel pump were the weak links and I hope to amend them and bump power up this year.

2014 - I seemed to have forgotten to say the Turbo six will be a straight six in a '69 Firebird. If I get the naturally aspirated version running soon enough I may take it on the Anti-Tour.

The overhead cam 6 I'm building for it. This is my naturally aspirated engine from spare parts, I am planning a turbo version with some good parts.

If you can keep from running out of gas on the highway you'll do fine  Grin

Low tens will almost certainly get you a top 3 finish. First place last year was fellow anti-tour'r Bill Fowler and his convertible mustang, running in the 9's. Second place ran mid 10's.  I forget if third was in the 10's, but I think it was 11's.

I'm not going to cage the Skylark, so I'm stuck at the 11.50 and above mark.

Oooohh nice,,hahaha,,ribbing about the gas,,my "12" gallon RCI cell holds 10 gallons,guess how I found out,haha...I ran out less than 1/4 mile short,if I hadn't pulled the burnouts and made a couple passes on the 33 for Doug's camera,while waiting for Brian's Chevelle parts,would've been a problem,,oh well,stuff happens.
I'm pretty sure I can go low 10's,goes mid 10's{now with a lousy 60ft time},as I'm hoping to build another short block before then,by the way...let me know what parts you need, maybe I can make you a deal at my work.

Randall, that Firebird is sweet, if you can that thing needs to go on the tour.
Your story about the hoodrats that came out of nowhere to push you out of the off ramp and into the gas station is priceless.
I hope to make the tour this year after missing last year, 2 years to go and the Air National Guard will no longer get in the way of important weekend, gearhead happenings, it'll be good to see all you guys again.

I was thinking of all the "little" things I need to do to that car to be ready by March'ish, and the list isn't short :*(  This weekend I am going to finish modifying the OHC six head, finish painting the various bits and pieces, then I need to start working over the interior (the seats are only held in by 2 bolts, the seat belts are in a box that came with the car), the underhood wiring needs to be overhauled, I need to assemble the MegaSquirt 3, and I have to build the EFI fuel system. My head hurts just thinking about it. To top it off I have work on my Skylark that needs to be done. Waiting on my heads to come back from porting, I need to clean up the block, intake, etc, I need to order a new timing set with an adjustable gear, I'm thinking of welding in 8 O2 bungs into the header pipes, install the engine into the car and eventually order and install a new exhaust system.  Work work work work!!

Though I am thinking if we are doing a car show again this year I'll bring my '67 Thunderbird, which I was going to bring last year but as I was filling up the gas tank to head out of town it developed a severe gas leak at the tank. I've since remedied that and have been driving it, so I can always bring that if the Firebird and Skylark aren't ready.

Got to love hood rats when broke down in the ghetto!
