Seeing works in progress at car shows

I notice everytime that I go to car shows I rarely see works in progress. Anybody else notice this? As i start my nova with limited time and budget every chance I get and its driveable i'll be at a show. Isn't that part of the hobby?  

nothing wrong with a work in progress.   those are usually the guys that actually work on theyre own cars.    i enjoy looking at cars like that more than the guy with the unlimited budget, who paid somebody to do it all, and the car sits in a garage til the next show.  

I've notice a similar phenomenon at the race track. Those that do their own work are adjusting stuff between runs while others park it until their class is called back to the lanes, they wonder why their car goes faster after dark.

I took my first car project to a car show,the old straight eight got me there very slowly, but I had a blast and alot of guys stopped by to talk with me and impart some advice on my build. It was a great experience. Personally I like to see some running projects rather than trailer queens.  

IMO, it's cool to see something different from what everyone seems to do. Some things get worn out easily for me.  

Your right about trailer queens. A friend just I mean just finished his project after 20 years. You know how far he drives it,to the trailer. It's not a missprint 20 years. He had almost 99% of the car when he bought it. Believe me money wasn't the problem...

I cant look at another 30's Ford street rod anymore, they all look the same to me. Bright paint, big tires in the back and a small block. You know most of them didnt do any of the work. I like seeing cars that are closer to stock condition.  

The 32 Ford, 55-57 Chevy, and the 67-69 Camaro are all cars I like but get tired of the build repetition. Like somebody's got a recipe that can't be changed.
