I want to install a rack & pinion steering assembly on my 1967 cougar and would like to have some information on the insulation of the assembly , any ideas or reccomadations
there are several articles spread through the magazines on rack and pinions in the early mustangs..is your cougar equipped with the slide away steering column... where it slides off to the side to allow you easy access...
this might help...there seems to be more than one selection...http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/hrdp_0705_rack_and_pinion_steering/viewall.html
Go to www.cartech.com see if they have something to help you make those changes easier. It's not a piece of cake.
Kits are available from a LOT of manufacturers for this, its an easy web search. You'll find Cougar parts where you find Mustang parts. Total Control Products, Mustangs Unlimited, Unisteer, and the list goes on. They are about two grand, give or take about $500 on options. Find a few on the internet and read the instruction sheets for ideas about installation, if you are considering using salvage parts.
