this is a great question... i have been thinking about at least the transmission issue for a while...i might have an answer for both...i am taking that you have seen the dipsticks for automatic transmissions from LOKAR.. where they use braided stainless as a flex tube and probably a flexible wire for the dip stick.. but its so small... decades ago i had a '70 Rover 3500S.. it was a PIA to check the trans fluid as it like the current cars has to be filled from under the car with a J shaped filler hose into the tube mounted to the back of the pan... this is on a borg warner 35 transmission that actually had a threaded plug in the dipstick opening.. at some point rover came out with an dipstick and tube that solved the problem... i was actually thinking of this for a friends early 90s honda car.. with the transmission dipstick down under the power steering and ac hoses.. making it almost impossible to reach without a hot sleeve.. back to your issue.. similar to the lokar version.. take a #10 or #12 bulk head connector.. have the threads machined off on the long side of the hex nut. then you can use a conventional #12 braided stainless hose section with hose ends to another bulk head with a flange to bolt to the back of the head.. or to a something else.. a new section of 1/4 or 5/16" plumbing snake as a dip stick as its super flexible.. can be attached moderately easily to a cap fitting so you can seal the top.. i will edit this later tonight if you reply and like the idea put some drawings in.. i have not measured the tube.. so if you have to use a 10 or 12 hose.. its how much metal is left where it slips into the transmission case... if you really wanted.. you .. could also thread the transmission case to allow you to just thread the bulk head connector in instead of a slip fit after machining for the Oring grooves..edit... i cobbled together this image for you . if you use a single Oring groove.. it will have to be slightly farther down... the length of the hose held tight at the top will hold it in place.. hopefully..for the engine oil dipstick... at an IATN ATSG convention a long time ago.. there was a company selling a tube production machine called the tube man.. as i recall. they could create new dip stick tubes.. as they have the ability to size and compress the tubing to expand the flanges.. even run roll tubes for o ring depression grooves... this company was nation wide.. so these machines are out there.. probably the various brake tube suppliers can do the same thing.. an interesting thing is to just use a longer tube.. seal it with a hardening type of silicone.. like ultra grey.. and allow the flag brace to hold it in position.. these are just ideas. of how i would handle it.. without needing to take a long time to use the tiny diameter lokar filler tube.. perhaps i am just too impatient..
