how do you tell the difference between head castings are the same numbers? bout a pair of heads off craigslist, castings are 14022601. there are two different heads. one is off a 305 with 1.85 intakes and another is from a 267 with 1.74....

Those heads are used on 80 to 86 267 to 305 engines. Valve sizes are the same. 1.84 intake valve and 1.5 exhaust. They are not a high performance head. they are used on all small bore engines.

The 305 used 1.84 intake valves on the 305 601 heads and 267 used 1.72 intake valves that is the only difference.

i got them for cheap...caould they be made into a more performance style head then what they are or should i just through them into a scrap yard pile? would the price of the machining be worth it or should i just look for heads that are under a 2.00? i know 305's can'thave anything bigger than a 2.00 with out being bored over.
