I am looking to finally get going on one of my projects, which is to take one of the '88 5.0L in one of my Grand Marquis' and convert it over to MAF so I can benefit from changing other things.  I would prefer to go the fuel injection route vs. changing the car over to a carb.  The issue that I am running into is that there are so many different ECU part numbers and MAF part numbers that I don't want to end up buying the wrong combination.  I know there are kits out there but I am trying to do this on a low budget.  I plan on making up my own harnesses from parts I have from other Grand Marquis that I parted out.

Does anyone know which ECUs go best with which MAFs?  Is changing the firing order from the grand marquis over to the HO mustang any harder than the obvious electrical changes?

I want to know why you'd want to limit yourself with a MAF?

I'd do a standalone ECU, MegaSquirt, FAST, EMS Pro, etc.  Speed density is way more flexible if you ever want to step up the horsepower.

I'd look at these links for info:
