Chevy Guy In search of a 5.0 FI V-8 for a 2000 merc mountaineer what year 5.0s will work ( im asking about the short block only ) I have everything from the original sent rod thru the block Cannot afford new all help will be greatly appriciated.

A good salvage yard will have an interchange manual telling exactly which vehicles have the same engine. You'll probably be calling them anyway for a short block. Yellow pages, man.
