why are drag strips so much$$$$$

i just went to my local track 10 dollars a person to watch four cars then a car spraded anti-freeze all over the track and took them 2 hours to clean it up a hour left and they canceled the test and tune im so pissed i got 2 see my friend run once 10 cars i saw in all not worth the 10 bucks

Depends on the track. some have more cars come out than others. $10 isnt expensive but for nomore action than that I can understand.

ur lucky ur even near a drag strip. i have to travel over 300 miles to get to one. that cost alot of money
|

Thats an all day long trip. I can be at one in 45min running the speed limit.

i live so close to the dragstrip i can here them run when i'm in the yard...makes it real hard to stay at home spectator fee $5...kids under 12 are free $15 to run what ya brung

those are wednesday and friday test and tune prices i think saturday is $10 to watch and $25 to run and the pits are open to all...and you are expected to be able keep yourself out of the way...staging lanes and such

lucky. so hard to do anything around here. i want to build a street/strip car out of my el camino but theres no strip to go to. sucks living in the middle of nowhere

I think the much better question is why do drag strips allow antifreeze in cars that are running on the track. Take a clue from the roundy-round guys (the ones that crash a lot) and make antifreeze illegal in the car. The problem (as you learned to the tune of $10) is that antifreeze is next to impossible to remove from the track once it is put down. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Heh you think thats bad? I live 5 miles from Zmax and they have only held 3 test and tunes since its been open! They charge 15 bucks and i was car # 101 that night and I saw car# 158 so who knows how many really showed up.

I was watching Pinks Allout and Rich flipped out on some guy cause he was runing anti-freeze at the track, so I guess some tracks (or at least Pinks Allout) have rules against runing anti-freeze/ coolant.

Some track rules dont make sense to me. Anti-freeze at the track serves no purpose
