im building mild 350 to put in my 88 pickup truck....its a 5 speed 305 tbi truck now....im starting with a 350 4 bolt goodwrench block....bored .30 over with flat top pistons ...i have vortec heads i had redone with a competition valve job...all stock reground valves...and i have the fatory roller set up...im planning on reusing the tbi system...which im sure will need to be modified....my problem is im trying to pick a good cam to build decent torque for pulling...i was thinking of going with a factory vortec cam  but i think it may be to much....i also thaught of using a factory tbi roller cam from a cammaro simaler to the one in the 305 in the truck...(from a camaro before i bought it).....or a decent after market towing cam......any advice would be greatly appreciated

If you decide to go the hydraulic roller way look into Comps XR258HR 12-408-8 or the 260 HR 12-410-8.

If you don't use the roller set up. Check out the XE256 or X4254H.

any of these cams will do great with your set up and make lots of low end grunt.  Be sure to get your computer right though.

the tbi system is fine, and works very well, i would not go with the stock votec cam because its about as poopy as the stock tbi cam, but depending on what cam you go with you will probably need a different throttle body with bigger bores, and possibly a custom chip, you cant use your stock tbi intake manifold because the bolt pattern is a little different and the ports are taller on vortec heads,  GMPP makes on to use the tbi system with vortec heads, or you can like a regular dual plane intake and use an adapter that you can get from like summit or jegs,  bigger injectors from a 454 might also be a plus
