Hey guys, I have a question
How to refill an oil pump in an automatic transmission?
Does the oil pump takes the oil from the pan after rebuilding an automatic transmission or I have to refill it with some grease like vaseline what?
Many mechanics say that some oil pums if not are refilled upreviously they simply will not work, and the bearing of the engine or the transmission would be destroyed.

what are you talking about...
when you start the motor.. the torque converter spins the pump gears.... the pump pulls fluid directly from the pan through a filter.. you either use transmission assy lube.. or a bit of ATF in the gears to lube them... i like the assy lube.. as it does not drip out over time.. transmission assy lube is not like engine assy lube.. it is available at every transmission parts supplier in 3 colors...
i used to work in a transmission shop many many years ago...
when i am putting fluid in for the first time after a rebuild... i have the drive wheels off the ground and free to spin...
i put in 3 quarts of ATF... start the motor.. drop it in low gear.. get back to the front and pour more ATF in.. when the wheels start to turn.. i run back around step on the brakes to stop the spinning wheels...drop it in park.. check the fluid.. add more. until its up close to the full mark... jump back in.. foot on the brake.. put in in LOW range.. bring the rpms up... move the shifter to second... bring the rpms up.. then into drive..... then stop the wheels with the brake... put it in reverse... let them spin a few seconds.. stop the wheels again.. put it in park.. check the fluid level... then back into the car... foot on the brake .. drop it into drive.. push the gas pedal.. watch the speedo.. check the shift points.. when it comes out of first.. and out of second.. into third and feel the torque converter lock up... each model is a tiny bit different.. and unmodified 60's and early 70's Mopar transmissions only fill the torque converter in neutral.. not park.. thats why its stays to check the fluid level in neutral.. bet the manfacturers lawyers were not awake on that one.. but it was a long time ago.. most professional transmission rebuilders update the effected transmissions.. so you can check the older mopars in park..

Waynep, you that know about transmission, I have to question something to you.
I have a 92 nissan sentra with automatic transmission engine 1.6
When the transmission change to second speed and the the car is moving in the parking at about 15MPH, when the transmission change to second speed with the engine in low aceleration the change to second is brusque and nearly stop the engine.
And when acelerate what happen is that the first speed last less time than the others and in general the transmission not transmit all the power of the engine to the wheels. I have to acelerate to much the engine to move normally in the traffic and the car suck to much fuel, due to the transmission with low power transfer.
Does I have to change the clutch and disks? Or it have other problem?
