Newb here, I'm assembling my first smallblock in about 20 years so I've been out of the loop when it comes to the "latest and greatest". After getting burned on the last used engine that i bought, I thought that it would be best If I built one myself. Luckily the last engine I purchased was a 4 bolt std bore. I was looking to build an engine for crate enging price. I found a local machine shop that has been great in advice and tring to save a few bucks and the other important money spent in the right places. so here it goes....what kind of horse/tq will this thing put out?

355 4 bolt decked to 9.00"
3.47 forged stock crank 10/10 stock gm
scat 5.7 rods #3-ir5700   big end 447 small end 188
manley forged flat top pistons 458 to 460 grams floating pins
Felpro stock style headgasket (.042?)
Comp cams retro hyd roller 12-433-8 Advertised Duration  288 int./294 exh. 0.520 int./0.540 exh. lift
gm 3991492 heads 64cc 2.02/160 stock no porting Comp prem springs for the cam listed, 3 angle valve job
tre full roller alum rockers
Edelbrock rpm airgap intake
650 or 750 Holley dp
msd 6al and 85551 pro billet dist. w mech advance

All of the bottom end/cam & lifters is new stuff and the top stuff is reused from the last 2 engines

Anybody build one close to this? any guesses?
Glad to have found a new place to hang.

Pocket port the heads and use a dual 2.5" exhaust system.

Ya 410-415Hp should be close if the heads were fully ported and they did a good job you would be closer to 450HP.

Thanks for the guesses. I will be assembling it this month. I know I should have gone with some alum heads like AFR's but couldn't swing the extra cash. Anything close to 400 will be awesome! Is is going into a 69 Camaro with a M22 and a 3:73 12 bolt, Headers and 2.5 duel exhaust. I can't waint to get the "ole smokey" out of the engine bay.

on the next build you should stroke it to a 383 or 385 if its already .30over. it will have alittle more low end torque.

I thought of that I just had almost everything to do a 355. We will se how nice this comes out. Has to be better than the 350 POS from a 73 chevelle that was stuck in the car that burns 1 qt oil every hundred miles.

That'll make a fun car to drive. Your def a little better than 400hp. Since its been awhile dont rush putting it together. Simple mistakes putting one together cost hp/tq.
