I have a 650 Holley DP and it runs great but it surges at idle and every time I come to a stop it wants to die and I have to feather the gas to keep it running and then when I give it gas from idle it has an off idle stumble. If I keep RPM above 1200 it runs good with no problems.

got any vacuum leaks..????

what happens when you lean out the idle mixture.. better or worse???   does it have secondary idle mixture screws?????

is there any chance that the secondaries are stuck part way open with debris.?????

well I dont know if it has any vac. leaks, it does not have secondary idle screws, and secondaries are fully closed. I just rebuilt it so it should all be good. I think it needs more fuel at idle so I am going to try turning out the mixture screws a little.

i did not think on a carb with 4 idle circuits.. that the secondaries needed to be totally closed... as they would just pull fuel and no air...   thats why there is an adjustable throttle stop on the secondaries..

any other carb gurus..

take out all of the idle screws, use the straw of the can of carb cleaner and spray out the idle circuits. something may be floating around in there (dirt, bugs, gasket)we have all had that happen. after it running look into the carb and make sure you see no fuel tripping into it at idle. if it drips check the floats or needle and seats.
