i have a 98 lincoln continnetial and while driving the check transmission light comes on after driving so far, maybe three to four miles, but the car doesn't act up or anything it drives normal, i have had a new strainer put in, but it still reveals the message while driving. what could this be? i push the reset button and the light goes off and i can drive another 7 to 8 miles before it comes on again.

its kinda out of the normal question for car craft forums...
but you need to find someone with a scan tool that can access the transmission section of the information..
generic OBD2 scan tools may or may not.....
the check transmission light is telling you that something the computer sees is out of range.. ... there are over 1,000 codes
when you get the code number... google it.. you will find several sources of code descriptions..

By any chance did you check to see if had enough trans fluid?
