What will happen if you have a small block chevy 350 with standard 3.48 stroke and standard 5.7 rods. The pistons are 20 down in the hole. But instead of 5.7 rods you used 5.85 rods.

i'd say the piston will be .13 out of the block
that 20 in is .020 or 20-thousandths in...
you're wanting to add .150 in rod length...
won't work with stock piston...

if you're looking at some different pistons...something with a shorter pin height, then you might be in business

Yea your right. In a haste moment, I messed up the math in my head. Thinking the difference in rods was only .0150 but really being .150. Ooops had a blonde moment. .13 out would not even let it turn over.

we all have those moments
i've often thought of the same concept but not familiar enough with all the different rod lengths and sizes...easier for me to have it decked
