powerglides are good too. cutting up stuff does suck. im with pontiac man stay away from high rise and stay with more street able manifold.

The victors really are managable on 383+ ci small blocks the don't work well for street deiven 350's but the extra cubes and torque longer stroke provides works well with the victor.  The RPM airgap is a great all around intake though.

yeah i agree about the victor, just sounded like hes all about low end torque. p2s 72 has a highrise with his street mortor and runs very strong.

ya i run a high rise single plane from professional products called the hurricane, still has tremendous lowend torque but climbs stairs too

The edelbrock RPM air gap is a high rise intake but dual plane instead of single plane.
Yes the victor is a great manifold and is streetable on a well built 383 but unless you're shift points are going to be above 6500 you will not see the full potential of the victor and the dual plane will build torque at a lower RPM which will give you better low end power.
I have seen test results on the Chinese knock off intakes like the hurricane and they don't compare to the edelbrock intakes.
You still have decent low end because the runners are small on the hurricane intakes vs. the victor and if you measure them you will see that they are all different sizes at least the one a customer brought me for a Pontiac engine was.

ya im sure with a dual plane i would gain a little lowend torque but probably nothing you would feel on the old ass dyno.chp did tests on the hurricane and it actually performed pretty well

it also is no edelbrock but does the job nicely for now.i swear the chinese have no quality control ,where i work they tried to order some size 20 hose clamps from china and these things were marked size 20 but would vary in actual size from like 24-16.if you look at our regular made in usa brand in boxes of 20000 clamps not one varies one bit

In the June 2009 Hot Rod mag. they did a test on the Super Victor and the RPM manifolds on a 355 chevy. Heres what they got.

rpm-----Victor-----RPM
3000    344        343
3500    385        394
4000    417        424
4500    425        428
5000    420        417
5500    399        395
6000    367        363
6300    341        338

This is the torque curve, as you can see the RPM is better up to 4800rpm then the Victor takes over, but the Vitor is at most only 9 LB-FT behind the RPM.

This is the Super Victor not the Victor Jr., the Jr. should be better on the bottom end than the Super, and this is going on a 388 not a 355.

Something to think about.

I have been thinking if I want all this horsepower why not supercharge it. I could drop the CR to 9.5 with dish pistons and leave everything else the same and boost it with a edelbrock 1551 E-Force supercharger or a Weiand 144 Pro-Street supercharger. What kind of power would this make and is it worth it, and would it be able to be an everyday driver.

Have you  thought bout installing twin turbos? With the parts your using you could be in the 700hp+ range. Their street friendly too

I think I am set on a weiand 144 supercharger because I know for a fact it will fit under the cowl hood on my 72 chevelle. I have just one problem, I cant seem to get my CR low enough. With 72cc chambers(the biggest iron eagles made) and 16cc dish pistons(the biggest forged dish that comes with a eagle rotating assembly) I still have a 9:1 CR, I want about an 8:1 CR. does anyone have any ideas on how to lower my CR.
