Edelbrock cams suck they don't even come close to a Lunati.

+1 Edelbrock cams are not up to par.

What's up Pontiac and P72... been a while since I ventured away CHP

I would use the comp XR288HR 12-433-8  It would like just a bit more stall, something around 2600-3000 would be ideal.  Have you considered using the Victor Junior intake on your set up.  I think you will make 30-40 more hp and probably 20 more lb ft. with it.  I would also maybe think about 1 3/4 headers, your engine will make pleanty of bottom end with them.

Also I don't know if you have considered a solid roller, but you could look into a the comp XR274-R 12-770-8.  With it you would make a bit more power and make it a bit lower RPM.  It works great with a Performer RPM but it pairs very nicely with the Victor junior intake as well.  Also it works great with a 2500 converter.

Good Luck!

Solid roller is out of the question, I have thought long and hard about the Victor Jr. intake vs. the RPM Air-Gap, I have looked at the comp 12-433-8(.520/.540 lift,236/242 duration,2500-6000RPM range) and I have also been thinking of the Lunati 50162 cam(.525/.540 lift,242/252 duration,2200-6800RPM range) and I probably will get the 1 3/4 headers.   I dont want to over cam with that powerglide trans and 2500 stall(but still want to run up to 6500RPM), but I want an absolute ground pounding engine(500+HP) on 91 pump gas, and this is the only car I have so I need to be able to drive it to work and all over town every day with no problems.

Do not care about MPG's, just horsepower and torque.

You should be very close to your 500 hp number and if you want more at the track nitrous is right up your alley.  Either of those cams would work well, I would consider just a bit more converter than a 2500 with either of them.  Also go for the victor and the 1 3/4's.  Your engine will have plenty of grunt to get it moving off the line and will work great when your in it and plling the R's.

+1 with the hydraulic, if you want ground pounding than maybe the air gap would be better than the victor jr. you will give up alittle air up stairs tho. nice with the 1 3/4 headers. this is going to be ran all day with a powerglide? ever think about switching or is this what you like?

Well I want I four speed but I dont want to cut up my new floor boards, and it already has the powerglide rebuilt and it runs good, just a little slow off the line, but that is why I am building a 388 stroker, to get the powerglide off the line faster.

I would stick with the edelbrock RPM air gap or even a weiand air strike manifold both will give good low end and build power up to 6500RPM and would be more street able.
