I am building a 388 chevy stroker. And I have almost everything figured out but one or two things. Here is what I got.
350 4-bolt main, bored .06 over, with ARP main studs. Decked to 8.99 and line honed. Using a .053 thick head gasket comes out to be .043 piston to head clearence. Eagle street and strip rotating assembly rated to 500HP with 7cc flat top pistons. Dart Iron eagle heads(200cc runners/72cc chambers). Edelbrock Performer RPM Air-Gap intake. 750cfm Holley double pumper carb. Hooker 1 5/8 headers. MSD HEI ignition, with NGK V-Power spark plugs. 7Qt. oil pan with oil cooler(holds 9Qt. in all). Stall converter that foot stalls to 2500 behind old stock 350. 1.5:1 ratio Comp gold roller rockers.
OK, now what I would like to know is what will my compression ratio be?
I want to run a Hyd. Roller Cam but I dont know what cam to use. I need all of my power and torque between 2,200 and 6,500RPM. I would prefer to use a Comp or a Lunati, and would like one that I can get from summit.
And I also want this motor to get my Powerglide Chevelle with 3.73 gears into the low 12s and still keep it streetable.

Piston to deck clearance is .043 and gasket bore is 4.2
|

With the specs you gave you will have a 8.95:1CR.

Are you sure about that I came up with a 9.95:1 CR with a 4.06 bore, 3.75 stroke, 7cc flattop pistons, and 72cc chambers, and .043 piston to deck clearance.

can you use a thinner gasket than that .053? i use the shim gaskets with iron heads and the thinnest available felpro for aluminum heads

i would agree...why a 53 thou gasket...if all is new and perfectly flat...why not use a steel shim gasket...they are 19 thou ...most commom composite felpro at 41 thou..
assuming,yes assuming 20 (ARE YOU SURE YOU ARE 43 DOWN IN THE HOLE??that easts up lots CR...) thou down and a 19 thou gasket 10.08 CR with 72ccs
53 thou gasket...9.35 CR
41 thou gasket ...9.60 CR
if you are indeed 43 + 53 gasket...thats too much...
just adding fuel to fire...not hear to mix you up...

No No No, the piston is out of the deck .01, the piston is above the deck surface .01, the piston sticks out of the hole .01, this is why I said I am using a .053 head gasket to keep the piston to head clearance at over .04

Now that makes a big difference you will have a 9.95:1CR.

did no one read the piston to valve = .043" above or the deck height being 8.990", not 9.000", pointless spending time and money cutting down pistons .010" when you can just get a thicker head gasket

I am about to order my rotating assembly so should I get the one with 5.7 inch rods or the 6 inch rods.

i would go with the six inch rods if getting new ones. the only reason i would use the 5.7s is if i were reuseing the old ones. less stroke dis. and wall scuffing. they have alot of info on them both if you google 5.7inch rods vs 6.0s. sounds like a bad a** motor good luck.
