i have a rebult 350 rocket with a automatic transmission,the car wont go into rear our drive untill it gets hot ,bands in tranny bad?

can i put a manual transmission in it,and what kind of rears are recomended for rebuilt 350 rocket,if i want more speed out of the hole?

The trans filter and fluid may need to be changed.
