I have a SBC 350 W/Block#3970010.How much HP did this motor produce from the factory?I have upgraded the Intake to a Edel.Rpm Proformer topped off W/Edel.600 Carb.A guess at what I should be at?

those are common but good blocks they came with 185-360hp depending on what vehicle they came in.the high hp ones were mainly from corvettes.they were produced from 69-79 and came in both 2 and 4 bolt mains

Are there any markings on the block to tell what vehicle it was put in at the factory?

Look on the front pad and post the codes.

Ok,I only found 2 other sets of #'s on the block.First were a set of 3 numbers above the Oil Filter which read - 371,386,89. The other #'s are on the rightside of the back of the block and that # is G136

Thats weird because I stayed up to 4am lastnight on the internet and found a web site that explained some of the markings on a block. It has a manu.date of G136 which is 7/13/76.Also the site explained the code on the pad as 1st# - 1=Chevrolet and the second# - 6=1976.The 3rd is supposed to be a letter which indecates which assem.plant the block was to be shipped to.The site also said that the Saganaw Plant used to put a "Clock"stamp on the block to show what shift and time it was casted.Mine has the "Clock" on it.

The suffix code cmj comes up as a 1975 350 from a impala or chevelle with a 145HP.

I posted some other info I've found which the Manu.date G136 = 7/13/76 and 2 other people looked at block today and say it reads CAJ not CMJ.Does that make any sence to you?It is a 4 Bolt-Main as well.
