Start with a new BOSS 351 and add a four inch stroker crank. A nice set of KAASE HEADS would work real nice. Something around a .600 lift cam and a 800 cfm carb. Then you will have a small block that needs no excuses. And would be quite different. The ls chevy is just a copy, and the old one is a over hyped tired boat anchor. So put in the one you can be proud of. Drop in a SMALL BLOCK FORD. They still run in nascar, when all others have long left the scene. Also they are the engines all nascar motors are based off of. As far as compression just check out engine masters challenge and look up KAASE. His web site is all you need. He ran 12.5.1 compression.

i dont no how anyone can put down the ls family of motors. thats just stuipd. the fords didnt know what hit them when chevy came out with the ls. its pretty bad that the v6 camero has more horse power than the mustang-gt. that small block ford build would be alot more money than a small block chevy.

everybody knows chevy makes more power all the way back to the original mustangs and camaros.go to your local track and you will see who the king is and its no conspiracy cant beat affordability, reliability, and power.

Last time I was at the track Pontiac Engines are the king and always will be for me.
Not a big fan of the 2nd gen or 3rd gen small blocks.

i dont like second or 3rd gen either but first gen and ls kick ass,as does any big block.pontiac is not king at the track because there arent that many of them.there are more chevys than anything else because of the affordability and availability of parts,so just by sheer numbers alone they win most events.thats just the way it is,chevy made a very simple motor to work on and made millions of them.

The Ls is a 3rd gen small block.
Pontiac will always be king in my book and chevy will always be second.

we have argued this before and im not talking about stock motors or 1 chevy vs 1 pontiac.what makes chevy king at the track is that its availability of good aftermarket parts and cheapness make it the #1 choice of racers.that cant be argued go to the track chevys are the vast majority and because of that one usually wins.

I agree parts are more available and cheaper but to me Pontiac is still number 1 and always will be.

i like pontiacs too,in fact i like all gm cars.My dads first car was a 68 gto and when he graduated high school my grandparents bought him a 77 lemans. In fact the judges are some of my favorite muscle cars and if stuff was as cheap as it is for a chevelle i wouldnt mind having one.chevy rules for me though

Erika427, maybe your lost. Dynamic compression is what needs to be looked at not static.SC of 12.5:1 may only be DC of 8:1. Which is pump gas friendly. Not to brag but I'm close enough to Kaase's shop to hear the dyno run. I talk with one of his longtime headporters on a regular basis so tossing out Kaases name isnt impressing me. you can take that to the Ford forums where it might impress the HS kids.
