So I got drums on my cutlass and i want to convert to 12" or maybe even 13" disks using late model parts. does anyone know a combination of cheap stock parts I can use to do this. any info on interchangeability would be a huge help.

check classic industries, they are GM specialist. they have parts listings as will as tech advice. i used them for a 70 nova change to front disc. all parts came in two boxes and from there it was a weekend job. very easy.

I have checked them out but i want my car to be kind of a junkyard brawler. I heard gm fullsize spindles give you a 1in drop then you use camaro calipers and 12" caprice rotors. I am basically looking for maybe a more detail on the parts i need

Ok so here is what my research has turned up so far. You can use tall spindles off a 78-91 caprice 12" brake car along with the calipers, bearings, and ball joint but the lowers will have to be machined to fit the a arm. Use camaro 1le rotors and g body tie rod ends and there you have a cheap 12" brake swap. Can anyone out there conferm this for me? or does anyone have any better combos that they know of?

You people are useless, you all have advice about things you read in a magazine but no one has any real world advice on a simple brake upgrade. Retards

Ha! If it were simple you wouldn't be asking!  A simple upgrade would be to conventional 10" rotors, but you asked for the 12".  A simple answer is get an aftermarket kit.  If you're a master fabricator you can get some 12 inchers to work by modifying the spindle to accept a caliper bracket, then find caliper brackets and calipers off a full sized GM, then machine a sleeve over the spindle for the bearings to ride on, and you'd be set.

Or a question was asked with an impossible answer. "Cheap", "12 or 13 inch discs" and "Late model stock" just don't belong together.

i knew that dumba$$ remark would come back to bite me

when i see people doing their yosemite sam impression, i throw more fuel on the fire...horrible character flaw

personally i go for the aftermarket replacement stuff before crawling thru the junkyards that don't have what i'm looking for anyway...a fertile round track program ensures everything is scrounged and abused

now let's see randall, stock 12"/13" brakes...the gasser style is coming back...just look at any HRM from the past year...what size rotors are on c3500 or c3500hd trucks...that's the cheap easy answer...late model c3500hd get the straight axle, leaf springs, and the larger brake package...the only fabrication is the spring perches, however there may be some trouble matching up the car's pitman arm to the truck drag-link

boy, this stuff is easier than i thought
