easier to install a posi unit in your rear end then to find a whole third member.most likely cheaper too. there realy not that hard to do.

setting the back lash. this is not hard but it can be the challenge, the posi unit must likely will have shim pack included. just start with the shims that are factory install, this is the base line to start from. as far as the best one, there are several types to choose from, clutch type, locker type and gear type posi. some differances in them. gear types are noisey in tight turns but work very good because they will lock in gear to gear . eaton lockers are unpredictable but also work good when locked in. unpredictable because it has alot of moving parts to lock the unit in,if the load on each tire changes while in a burn off they tend to unlock and/or lock in while spinning. they tend to explode at this point. clutch types are good street or strip, predictable because they are always posi-trac, no locking or unlocking in the middle of burn outs. the bad part is that the clutches can be worn out,but it takes alot fun to do that.  randy`s ring and pinion end. i have bought from  of this company. good tech advice and good service. i would go with the clutch type posi-unit. a little long i know but they are all differant.
