Hi guys,

I've been a avid reader of the magazine and thought it was about time i joined the forums

Anyways, I am currently in the process of building a 67 newport as a sleeper and just ran into a small electrical issue....

The other night while i was driving to the local races(just to spectate that night ) the fuse for my instrument panel lights blew.... After i got home i replaced the fuse and as soon as i flipped the headlight switch on it blew again

This tells me that i have a short in the system somewhere, but i haven't tore into it yet to find out where.... Any suggestions on where to start my search would be greatly appreciated!

there are instrument cluster lamps all over the place in that dash...  if one of the sockets has fallen out of the back.. and the bulb has broken... it might be shorting to ground...

it could also be a bulb that has fallen out of the socket.. once in a great while.. that happens... if the center wire pushes in.. it also can short out to the grounded housing..

looking at the wiring diagrams...  for various 67 mopars.. the orange wire bulbs are the circuit effected..

you might also pull one.. see what bulb it takes...  boxes of 10 bulbs are usually under 10 bucks...  and are sometimes behind the counter... much cheeper than 2 bulbs at a time..

bulbs with yellow wires and there are a bunch of them also... are controlled by the door switches and grounded by the head light switch when rotated all the way to the left..

it is also possible .. that the head light switch has gone bad...     what.. but the head lights work...

there are multiple switched circuits in the head light switch...

head lights..
parking lights. front and rear seem to be on different circuits..

power on 3 different wires...

instument cliuster lights
dome light override..

Thanks Wayne! Do you know of any place i could get a hold of a wiring diagram for the car.... I spend my time at my real life job reading lots of wiring diagrams, so this would help me immensely!
