ever hear of joe mondello???? he is the olds engine building guru... he even has classes in rebuilding them.. all the machining ... porting, polishing theory behind all kinds of olds thinking...
350 olds motors came in all kinds of cars... buicks, olds ponitacs... even cads... sevilles from 76 to 80 had them... eldorados in 79 and 80... there are lots of sevilles in the junk yard.. they came with a th400 also... but with fuel injection... don't worry... aftermarket intake bolt right on... as do regular olds hei.. the cadillac HEI's usually have a remote electronic spark control box ... with a knock sensor in the side of the block...
there are tons of 260 and 307 olds motors scattered through the junk yards... the sevilles are the only for sure 350 olds every time... rear wheel drive models.. not fwd...
as for head flow... i don't know... but heads are easier to find... and a lot of different options...

there is rocket racing in waterford WI, mondello in california, (i dont recommend mondello, they are a bunch of cheap bastards other there, you pay for forged pistons and you get hypers, that sort of crap), FCR in omaha nebraska, dick miller in mississippi, J&S machine in topeka IL, olds performance products in new york, or I work at REDI (race engine dynamics inc) in madison WI. Olds 350 are starting to get harder to find if you want one to build a nice street engine with. '77 and up had windowed mains like the 403, '68-'72 had a nodular crank. I just purchased a stock '72 350 for $50 with out the heads, every thing else is good, dont even have to cut the crank, usually you can find someone that just wants to get rid of it, I dont think ive ever paid more then $125 for a motor
to Waynep, mondello tech school teaches head porting on SBC heads, gives you the basic knowledge of where to find air flow and the best possible ways to increase air flow. doesnt touch on oldsmobiles,

yes he is Dr.Olds, but he does not teach people how to build one, there are some articles on mondellotwister.com that tell you a little bit how to get some performance out of one, but that shop is in california with very little relationship to Joe, Joe is located in Tenesee now I believe, Joe started building oldsmobiles because no one else ever touched them and it seemed like a challenge, He figured he would work on them because he already did a lot for ford and chevy, he actually came up with one of world products heads, he couldnt even gain 5 CFM by hand porting them, thats how good they were, chamber and all. I have talked to Joe in person and his wife Mary on the phone, and know a couple people that talk to Joe on a regular basis and have been in his porting class, THEY DONT PORT OLDSMOBILE HEADS IN HIS CLASS. actually have a friend that talked to Joe on the phone about head porting and Joe called him a dumb ass, later my friend proved him wrong, Thats why I dont like listening to Joe, yes he did a lot of the engine builder world and knows how to build a lot of horsepower, and the world will probably never see another Joe Mondello but will never admit when he is proven wrong
