I'm looking to build what I call a "Stealth Chevelle." Albeit one to mop the floor with an authentic LS-6. In any case, I need to know what it's going to take in order to get a Tall-Deck "Truck" Block, BBC to fit under the hood of a 1970 Skylark. I am NOT looking to be known as a 'Buick Butcher', so I will need to know exactly how much intake I can stack on top of this set-up without punching a hole in the hood, as I'd like to leave the Cowl Induction for the real 454 Chevelles. I want to drop in a ZZ572 (9.6:1 street version) but that manifold looks pretty tall to me, especially considering that I will also need to squeeze a nitrous plate between it and the Carb. Still, I wonder if I use the proper engine mounts along with a Drop-Base air cleaner assembly, if maybe it could fit? If not, what other shorter, high-flow,rectangular-port intake will fit using this combo? I'm not worried about giving up a little bit of naturally-asperated power because I will be able to recover it, and then some with the Nitrous. I figure, that after knocking about 12 degrees of timing out of it to accomidate the 250 hp. kit, I should still see 550 horsepower from it, even with a smaller intake (if required). All told, I'd like to get a low, ten-second timeslip out of the deal with around 800 horses in a 2 ton car (driver included) using 411 cogs inside a Dana60. And of course, keep it on the street using either a Turbo-400 with a Gear Vendors Overdrive, or one of those Bowler-built 700R4's. Also, most importantly, is there any way I could put all this to the ground using a factory, stock-style suspension (you've seen the strange 60 set-up)with sticky cheater-slicks that fit untubbed wheelwells?
