Is there anyone in the Chicago/NW Indiana area who can hot tank an engine block?

open Google.... type in your zip code.... the first link should be a google map.... when the map loads... look for the search nearby link.... click it and type in engine rebuilding.... there are about 50 listings...
many napa stores also have machine shops... with hot tanks... but... actually most hot tanks are JET TANKs now... with rotating tables that slide in... and spray nozzles pointing at the engine as it spins... very few shops actually have hot dip tanks any more... they have mostly been replaced.. there is a secret... most have a removable cover over the heating tubes.. you can get heads and sometimes a block in there... if you want it to soak... but the jet tank is usually good enough...
oh.. and every transmission rebuilder has one.. sometimes 2 or 3... you have to have the blocks free of heavy grease before even asking them... most will say NO... they save many hours with them. when the wash soap is clean... engine grease really messes with their soap...
a gallon of cleaner degreaser from the cash and carry stores.. a quality toilet brush can do wonders...
