the windshield and rear window are glued in..  there is also the chrome or stainless trim around the glass..

it takes an anchor shaped tool make of sheet metal... (flat)  to unlatch the retainers...

most glass shops have gone to a long  long knife..   some 24 inches long.. with a 2 to 3 inch blade in the end...

these are used to cut the seal out from the inside... right against the glass...

there will be tons of sticky stuff called window weld...  either in rope form or caulking tube form...

if you have not the tools... or the 2 or 3 people to remove it.. there are a lot of mobile glass people... they can come by and in 20 minutes get it out...    many times  they can do it without breaking the glass.... BUT not every time...   nobody will warrantee that they won't break the glass when they are taking it out..    since it is an A body. replacement glass should be available.....  price it around...    and ups does accept shipments of uncrated windshields...  just bagged and the edges protected... i have seen it done..  but only with new glass..

alright, the windshield is out... in one piece.
i got a trim remover tool from napa which unhooks the retainers for the trim.

to get the glass out i went to guitar center and bought a .018 E string and pushed that through the caulk. then with the help of my dad we worked the string back and forth around the windshield until we had completed a lap.  then we just pushed on it and boom, its out.

a little later today i am going to clean up the mess, and start painting the dashboard.  thanks for the tips!
