Stumbled across a pretty solid 63 Fairlane 500 with factory 260 and 3 on the tree.  Planned to swap in a t-5 from a Fox mustang to put behind the 260 for now, then step up to a 302 once cash allows.  Has anyone done this before?

I am working on the same project but am going to use a 351W. The 63 has been striped out and the next part will be the Fatman front suspension kit install. I plan on cutting out the shock towers as I did on my 64 that has a 427 in it. That will gain needed clearance for headers and I am going to use a BBK clutch cable. Early on I will be using a bare block with bell housing and trans to define the trans cross member location.
I will keep you informed step by step as I go through it. I too have posted asking for help from those who have done this and the most information is found on The Fairlane Club of America web site for members. You might want to try that first as this site seems to not have many folks interested in this type thing.

why change out the 260? there great motors and have lots of power for there size. the t5 swap shouldnt be to hard however one of the problems you will have is the starter. my brother has a 62 fairlane 2 door 260 with the 3 on the tree, but he had a major problem with finding starters the nosecone on 260v8 standard starters are different than other ford starters save the nose cone on the starter if it goes out or have it rebuilt do not throw it away. but his 260 is fast and tough.
