the only rearends that will bolt in without modifications are 73-77 A-bodies

if you can find a rearend from a 73-74 laguna, 442, big block monte carlo, or similar performance offering from the earlier years of this body run would be your best bet

during the mid-seventies was when lower compression, higher milage requirements, and unleaded gasoline was forced onto the public

the general tried to keep some performance in the lineup but it was mostly dead by 1975

oh...GM did come out with HEI for the '75 model year

it might be just as cost effective to have your existing rearend upgraded, or to have a 10 or 12 bolt built for your application,...there are companies that advertise in CC that offer those rearends...chevy rearends are going to have "C" clips while some others use bolt in axles

in my area the junk yards have gotten rid of nearly all the donors for these body years (the left turn guys didn't help either as these were perfect for figure eight racing) and the later A/G's are getting scarce too

happy hunting

if you're looking to change rearends, '68-'72 models of the same body family will swap right in...i've heard that '78-'86 A/G rearends are the same width (flange to flange) but not sure if the mounts are spaced the same

if it's just a posi unit that you want, it might be more cost effective to get an after-market posi unit and install it into your current housing

i personally put a powertrax unit in my current 10-bolt...they replace the spider gears and don't require pulling the carrier out...i like it so far but don't have much time/miles on it
