Ya it sounds familiar.
Professional hi-performance engine builder
Horsepower sells Engines and torque wins races.

Your wife doesn't bother getting mad anymore when she finds grease on the dog
Your kids play doctor with your Mechanic's stethoscope.
The neighborhood kids bring there bikes and big wheels to you to fix them
Your daily driver has 4.10's instead of the 2.73's it came with
When you realize that in the past 10 years you have probably spent a total (counting ALL the parts even the little ones) of more than $45,000-55,000 on one project car, and it doesn't bother you.
**Think about it... every time you go to the part store how much do you pay, then how often are you there... They do know you by name, then add in the big stuff like trannys, engines, rearends, exhaust, TIRES. It adds up QUICK, $5k a year isn't a lot.**
When you don't share that with the wife.

When the pizza guy knows to go in the back yard and look for you under the car instead of knocking on the front door!

When after one of the towns back hoes hit your car and damage the bumper, a light, a fender and the parking teeth on you car and you Flip out on the Appraiser cause he wants to total your car cause its "not pretty", and has NO concept a $10k drivetrain actually makes the car more valuable.
When you know how much money you've dumped into your car but can't find the reciepts for the life of you.

i woke up on a sunday morning to find someone had side swiped my 67 c-20, come to find out it was a 2000 f-150, my front bumper did to his truck what the iceberg did to the titanic, red body pices laying all over the ground, found a piece with ford stamped on the inside...ended up causing $1000 damage to his truck, i just had to straighten my bumper a little bit, got $300 to fix it, but yes at the time, i was pissed with the appraisers $300 and wanted to hit him for even saying it was in such bad shape anyways

When your parts car Becomes your daily driver and your daily driver gets sent to a storage unit (due to rust) until the loan for the last engine you bought is all payed of so you can take out a new loan to stuff a Big Block in it.
When your family doesn't expect anything less.
and Now your daily driver is a Mint 88' Caprice wagon with ALL the options, Maroon with Perfect wood grain, a ZZ4, a built 200-4r, and 4.10's with a truetrac.
