When you indicate body rot, I assume the body substrate (which is fiber glass) has what is known as spider webbing or small cracks in the fiber glass that shows through the painted surface. This is not that not hard to fix but is labor intensive depending how much you have. I generally see this mostly on the hood due to the heat from the engine. Fiber glass does not like heat. If there are stress cracks in the fiber glass then cracks have to be cut grinded and filled or re-fiber glassed. Another issue is how perfect do you want the body. Most of the older corvettes have wavey figer glass panels/body. To get the suface completely flat involves using feather fill and a lot of block sanding.
Make sure you have a contract with anyone that paints your car. Your expectations need to be clearly stated, i.e., no orange peel, no runs, etc. What the paint shop considers a good paint job may not be what you consider a good paint job. Whatever you do, get estimates from more than one paint shop and ask for references from people that have had their car painted there. I hope this helps.
