Properly prepped Pontiac iron heads flow pretty well. Well enough to make Bruce Fulper the Indy winner. Oldsfreak and 81 Elc you might want to check this out he is running iron heads. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8Si2vh4Nrs

haha. a bone stock 440 will beat a bone stock 426 hemi in the exactly same car. im talking bone stock not full race nascar motor. i have seen that episode to. it was on speed a few years ago. American Muscle car is what its called. and they did have a l88 427 on that i belive they said it dynoed at like 500 hp. we had ours dynoed stock at a little over 560hp. thats what most people seem to get out of them that ive seen. they only built 20 so its hard to find much data on them. the results seem a little off from what ive seen on these engines in real life. keep in mind im only 15 so i havent seen all of those but we have had alot of them in our shop

yeah i know what a hemi is. ive been tearing apart engines since i was 10. sure nhra uses hemi engines but they all have a blower on top of them. hemi's breath real well and stock they may make more power than a 440 but im saying identical cars i would bet on a 440. not by much but it would b very close. i respect mopar power. dont like how the cars are built but they did make power and looked fairly nice

not a lot od people put olds motors in chevys, but i know people like to put them in trucks, i have a 455 that came out of a ford F250, im not sure what they did because the flexplate was about a half inch smaller then a stocker. figured that out when i tried to start it. that sucked. If oldsmobile made a truck, they would still be in business and all of you know it
a fully ported set of cast heads will cost about the same as you would pay for a set of edelbrocks, in the $1500 range, unless you get a set from mondello or something like that, I personally charged a guy $300 labor plus parts to port a set of E (oldsmobile) heads that flowed 265CFM on the intake and 198CFM on the exhaust. total cost was like $700, and that includes valves, springs, guides, seals, hardened exhaust seats and all machine work. and edelbrock heads flow around 250 and 189 on an outside port, 240 on a center port, mine were all within 5cfm, i also did this when i was in school for engine machining tho, thats why it was cheap

and i have to say if they 1970 442 455 was rated at 365hp and 500lb-ft and the w-30 was at 370hp and 500lb-ft, thats wat muscle car club says anyways, but im called the BS flag on that one, im positive the big duration and fast ramp speed on the w-30 only made 5 more hp at another 2,000 rpm, ya thats BS
