I have a 94 caprice ex cop car. I am thinking about dropping in a tall deck 427. Any thoughts on how to build a reasonably priced, reliable engine

hop up the LT1 , don't install a old boat anchor  bigblock,  the LT1 will make just as much power and stay legal.I like big blocks, but they have no place in a newer car. Save em for the older rides .

Jim, do you have any suggestions for hopping up the LT1?

I also have a '94 9C1 Caprice. Mine has Dynomax stainless 2 1/2" muffler and exhaust, a Hyperchips computer chip, and a K&N air filter. It runs strong, gets decent gas mileage, and I still pull cars down from 80 all day long on the interstate! LMAO

I would like to get the engine up to about 500hp with 500ft/lb of torque. Should I convert it to an LT4 or just buy some heads and get them ported buy a hot cam and LT4 intake and headers and a power programmer or power chip?

ditch that hypercrap and get a good tune from someone like PCMforless. That really makes a difference .
