I voted agianst the Eco-Nazi's but they came out in force while we just kinda showed up. I am angry though, most of my family live real close and I am the only one in my area of the city that voted from my family. I cannot believe that people do not use there God given right. Then they think they have a right to make an opinion about our country, when they HAD achance to CHANGE it. I'm sorry guys I am disturbed greatly about the Dems winning virtually everything, and just wanted to vent about people who didn't vote. Well all I have t say to them, May God forgive all of you who didn't choose, for you will be swept away by the repercussions of the inaction you took.

hi my names don I'm australian and enjoy reading your threads. I once lived and grew up in America. Most of you guys are not real caenthusiasts I think! Just hoons. A real street machine owner/builder trains himself in the ART of car building. From panel beating to spray painting ,engine building, electrical, motor trimming, welding and fabrication, suspension and brakes/underbody mechanicals. The people who have skills that can pay bills are not afraid of change, they change, adapt, improvise .who was outing turbos on old school mucle cars ten years ago? Nobody, now if you want real power it's the way. Why? Because of pioners beating down a path for others to follow, leaders and followers, you choose. Personly I've downsized my weponry by going 6cyl turbo ford and making more power than my 351 clevo, why? 4litres at 15 ilb / 1bar efectivly doubles the engine size so it becomes 8litres whithout the massive wieght penalty of a big cumbersom v8 over the front or the fuel economy sitting at a set of traffic lights. The truth is do you guys just want to drive around listening to your v8 , is that what car enthusiasts are these days, posers?! I'm a real car enthusiast and I'll be wating for you at the next trafic light after beating you at the last one in the motor I built and designed and you in the brand new one you just brought .

I thought being a "Hoon" was a good thing "in the land of wonder . . . the land down under." Who knew?
As the "So we're not rich but we aren't stupid" thread evidences, many American Car Crafters are not yet ready to "downsize our weaponry" and want to TURBOCHARGE B-I-G V8s.
HEAR THAT CC . . . TURBOS ON BIG BLOCKS! (We've been waiting over five years . . . .)
Too bad Ford's wacking the legendary turbo Falcon I-6 for a Yank "Duratec" V6. The turbocharged OZ inliner would be a fun mill for the U.S.A. too.
On the other hand, it will be a sad day when big government regulations deprive hardworking Car Crafters (hoons or otherwise) of the freedom to choose to build a RWD V8 supercar for the street.
The outcome of November 4 put us on the greased skids to such a sad day.

Not everyone has the time or money to do such things...nor the skill. Sorry, I painted my car in my garage and it turned out decent...but I'll be saving up to send it to a shop who's work I've seen and love (guy owns, last I checked, 5 immaculate Shelby Mustangs that he restored). I'm not arrogant enough to think I'm God's gift to automotive painting...I'll do what I can, what I'm good at...but if someone else is better and I can afford it...they'll get the car to work on. I care about it too much to hack it up on foolish pride.
Off that note, my engineering background makes me a heck of a lot more capable of designing a suitable chassis for a car...much more so than someone who never took an algebra class. Doesn't mean that guy is any less of an enthusiast...

sorry if came across a little arogant guys, mr csiroc if wanted a flame paint job I'd give it to the guy who does that all day long as it's not what I do. If I wanted a hemi bb turbo built I'd give that to the guy who does that all day aswell , so I agree that if you want a sisteen chaple I'd get micheal angelo! So if you guys have a yenko or shelby yeh get the best for the best , real art needs a real artist to work on it. Turbo tim , you are so right about the 6 turbo, it's getting replaced with a more eficiant motor however and that might ensure are cars are still able to compete on the world stage against the *** and european markets. I'll miss em though but I have one eye on the future and it's not short sited, maybe that's why I can't see what's hapening in front of us aswell as some of you guys .all I was saying is a real car enthusiast works on his car and yeh maybe not every area, but what's the difference between paying everybody to do all and just buying a new car that already has it all? Where is the car crafting in that? I recon that's "poseing" pretending your so good when the car is on display when you never turned a spanner on it, i dont like that "foose" aspect that has crept into the sport over the last ten years, its ruined alot of enthusiasts motivation to stay in this sport because its like getting in the ring with mike tyson . To me its about unity with your friends and sharing experience and knoledge causing mental growth and stimulation not fustration because you have to take a second mortgage to enjoy your sport. Theres no future in anything if it cant be passed from generation to generation or father to son . Just buying a toyota or whatever and floging it around on the streets like hoons do just makes everyone hate car loving people bring stricter gov enforcement ( car crushing /confiscation ) laws and the sooner we distance are selfs from these throtle jocky cowboys the better . Oh i still thrash my car ! But where it not seen like in city / suberb areas to many kids have died geting run over that way.

GM might go bankrupt in early 2009.
That'll put a crimp in the supply of Car Craftable V8s.
And what will Jeff "Camaro Craft" Smith do?
None of you "Brand X" fans should get too arrogant. Chrysler's not too far behind GM on the way to the poor house. . . .

My brand is already dead
Anyway, word has it that Ford only has about 7 months cash supply left as well. Not looking good...
But hey, at least we spent 700 billion (plus pork) to prevent an economic collapse...right?? Right??
It amazes me how stupid our government is.

I'm glad I bought my 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis. Get them while you still can!!! I better take real good care of it, because they will become extinct.
Ya, with the socialist in power, now CAFE will get even more severe. You just watch! Michigan made a big mistake in their vote.

Most of the US made a huge mistake when they voted. I feel bad for the american automotive industry. They will either go under, or Obama and his nazi-socialism, will bail them out as long as all cars have GPS and tracking devices on them so the Feds can monitor everywhere you drive. It will be a sad 4 years for us in this country. Do you think he'll use the swashtika or will he coe up with his own mark for all of us to wear?

I don't fully understand your automotive / economic climate. We have started doing this "carbon trading" thing in Australia. It appears it's a new form of tax, a enviromental tax.
The government is pushing this stuff in schools to teach kids how bad it is to be selfish and polute the earth by driveing a gas guzzler to work everyday. Famous people are driveing toyota pirus cars to make them cool. Alot of small, "special intrest" groups are getting traction in the most stupid areas of govenment law ( can't photogaph your own kids at public places like the beach , because pedophiles photo kids there, but a artist is aloud to photo kids nude because that is aparently art, homo's can marry and adopt kids because aparently there less abusive parents and they say being gay is natural , though I personaly have never seen any animal that is naturaly gay) belief in god is openly insulted in the media, marrage is something only stupid people do nowdays aparently (it makes it hard to cut and run from responsibility, the young generation are mostly cowards) and men are treated like the latest handbag by females. Self harming emo's (cuting yourself because your unhappy with your life) is fashionable and come to think of it, so is being gay and driveing import turbos ( I think the two are related!)
V8 cars and suv cars that are big are constantly hammered in the media. In Sydney the police come to cruise spots with big trucks and block off all exits, then engineers examine the cars and defect them of the road, one had a brand new car that was 3 weeks old defected, nobody made it out alive, 300 cars from our seen taken out, they do it regularly , now some places fence the area to stop the cops, it's happened alot for no reision. My mate who is 6ft8" tall got his car defected hevily and as we are driving home the cops pulled us over to defect the car some more! He was so upset he started kicking his car and screaming "this is what you want yeh! You want to destroy my car ,yeh!" the police just stood there as he smashed every panel and kicked it to death, they then said "good, you got the message!"and then waved and drove of, leaving me to console my friend who now had his head in hands. At my local hangout last week they drove through writing down everyones plates so they then could call them in individualy for inspections,(defects ofcourse!) I'm glad I didn't have my car their.
The best one is defecting show cars and drag cars on trailers! As they enter the suberb where the event is (yes, the police are defecting cars still on the trailers!!) being a car guy is not cool now, you got to have real enthusiasm to work in these conditions. Late night/ early morning thrashings and test sesions! is the only way to avoid the pigs, and if you see one , hammer that pedal! And get outa there fast! They'll be bored ,and pain will flow to you.
We lost are way, we lost the war!!! Good luck guys, land of the free home of the brave

Whoa! Maybe "Mad Max" isn't that far-fetched!
Hopefully the enviromental "Bronze"** don't become that brazen in the U.S.A.
On the other hand, if we're really going to cut C02 emissions to EIGHTY PERCENT LESS THAN 1990 (Obama's stated goal), it'll take more than a few plug-in electric cars to accomplish that insane target.
Whent that happents, who will be the first to build an all-electric "Pro Street Prius" (gag . . . urp . . . whoa . . . foouhah)
**For some reason "the Bronze" is what they called the national police in "Mad Max."

PREDICTION: The Detroit bailout will come with a lot of "strings" aimed at reduction of carbon emissions.
Maybe this time GM will be the ones making the ill-fated decision to kill off its high performance parts and cars (as Ford mistakenly did under heavy rhetorical pressure in November 1970).
It seems unlikely that the "greens" will tolerate huge "corporate welfare" subsidies to GM AND GM's continued pursuit of motorsports at the same time.

It is a sad time for the automotive industry. The government will bail them out, and then run them the way they want, just like Ford and Chrysler. My mom has always said this country gets more and more comunistic, by the day. Sadly, I think she is right.
Reduce Carbon emissions, omg that is so hilarious. Why dn't we deport the 12 million illegal immigrants, including Obama's aunt, as they won't be polluting our environment with CO2 anymore. That is a good start to reduce CO2 emissions, right? Oh wait, that's right the rich people who pay to get politician's in office, couldn't get richer by hiring AMERICAN'S, and paying them AMERICAN wages. Why don't we start enforcing the death penalty? Killing a convicted mass murder reduces CO2 emissions as well, he isn't breathing anymore. Democrats, a party with NO ideas, or intelligence. I'd rather have the Republicans. They at least have BAD ideas, but it's better than nothing.

your spot on right about are sport being killed off from atrician I recon feel fiero
Last knight on are prime time news the Australian govt released there new tax, wait for it !!, A BLODY POLUTION TAX on motorists....
They also said there are plans to target biger and hevier cars & suv because they polute more.
I think America is ahead of australia in almost every area (except rugby leage, we are the best in the world undesputedly at that!& new Zealand is the best at rugby union), except climate change laws. Why? We are a smaller population that can change direction alot more quickly, like a small boat and a big boat, kapeesh!
The speed that these laws are coming is quicker than the global credit crissis , well almost. They really are ramping up there plans for environent control, little hitlers!
