The End of CarCraft, HotRod, PHR, Diesel Power?

Hey, whats going on here? Lately I have seen very little in the way of new real tech articles in all of these rags. I see gauge installation, more gen1 small block chevy engine tech, and finally a octane comparison(?!). It seems as if the economy has taken a toll on the publishing company.
A tech article that probably cost less than $100 worth of gas and a mule engine that has probably sat in the corner for 3 years????? Wholly cow, you guys are really causing me to lose interest in these rags.

That'd be the reason I let my subscription lapse. I've already got these articles.

At least Hot Rod and PHR I can find on News stands. I haven't seen a Car Craft on a news stand in two months..... My subscription is still going though.

Tech is what keeps readers coming back.
Unfortunately, the trend has been for tech stories to be driven by the aftermarket. So if the aftermarket isn't feeding the publishing beast with new material, content suffers.
And with smaller budgets resulting from less advertising, and smaller staffs, the magazines are less able to engage in expensive tech projects.
Of course, broadband could eventually spell the death of traditional car magazines . . . .

It even seems like the online content is suffering as well. Tech stories seem like they are updated every two months which turns me off from reading the online content. The manufactures came out with new engines, I have seen maybe 4 articles done on the new hemi yet hundreds for the small block chevy. If the new tech is too expensive then what about a comparison test between the short and long stroke 400 Olds along with the 403? That would be an awesome 3 way comparison test. How about a build up of some of the odd Pontiac engines like the: 265 287 303 316 336 347 366 370 engines? Do a Thermoquad vs. Quadrajet comparison on a actual engine not just look at them. I got plenty more if they want suggestions.

Thanks Carcraft, the blown 400 Pontiac and Boss 302 tech articles is a start. The three manifold comparison is exactly the kind of stuff that helps us in the real world make educated choices when selecting performance parts for our projects. Think about it, without that 3 manifold comparison we would have to buy and instal 3 seperate manifolds and track test them for the results. How long will that take and how much money? Either one is in short supply for most of us.
The Blown 400 Pontiac, a few more pics would be nice. The fact that the engine was mostly stock is a 10 on the cool factor.
