Hello my name is Dove. I bought A jeep with A chevy 350 4 barrel-HEI. I need to ID the year of the motor to tune it up properly. The code on the passenger side front of the block reads - 2m1215 OVP right now im trying to time it and it doesnt want to run right down at 12 0r 13,it seems like it wants to run up higher. not sure where to set it at.

there is a date code as well as a casting number on the back of the block if you can list those numbers than I can tell you the year but I could not find any thing on the code you listed. As far as the timing make sure the balancer has not spun.

Look at the block pad on the front of the motor, passenger side right in front of the head, there should be stampings there too.
