you will need to locate an adaptor plate...because the good old nailhead unfortunately has it's own bolt pattern .Then a beefed up 2004r would probably be the most simple to install {no electronic controls to worry about }

The 200r4 still needs some electronics to make the lock up converter work. With out the converter locking up you risk over heating the transmission.

The big concern is clearance of the trans tunnel, those Dynaflow transmissions are pretty tiny by today's standards.  I don't remember what kind of frame they had under them, if it's an X-frame then it's a very troublesome swap, if not then it is probably just trans tunnel clearancing.

You've probably have a super-tubine 300 right, I installed an 62 425 in a 66 GS that had a 401 back in 1990 and we had a problem with the crank register and the pilot on the converter so you probably want to do a complete mock up so that you'll have the right clearances using a core before you spend money on the trans your going to use also what about the starter I can't recall if it bolted to the trans or moter.
All the power in the world don't mean a thing if you can't get it to the ground!
