Biggest enigne you can put in a stock 1966 fairlane

Im just wondering wats the biggest engine i could put in without tearin everything apart...i was offered a 360 but i think its to big for the driveshaft and one wheel drive rear end

Those cars came with 390 FE motors from the factory, you can put just about anything in that car. As for the open rear diff, it just means you might have some wheel hop issues, and constantly rotating the right rear to other wheels!

You need something with a lot of torque to move a monster like a Fairlane, I'd suggest a good 390 motor with a healthy hydraulic roller cam, Edelbrock heads, a good carb, and backed up by a well built C6. THe driveshaft will be fine.

well since my budget is like 600 bucks all that stuff is kinda out...i can get a 360 with a c6 tranny already on it but its from a junkyard so it might crap again...im looking for a carb


i kinda just want to sell the car for 1000 bucks but i cant get any hits cus its a 4 door and needs work
