Before I tear the flat head 6 out of my Lark does anyone know if this is a fairly straight forward process or is it going to require some subframing?  I realize that the tranny cross member will most likely need moved but thats easy.  

In 2006 or 2007, CC had an article about a really nice Lark a guy had built with a small block Chevy. I'm pretty sure the story's on the website somewhere.  

Yeah I saw that but that guy used all corvette stuff and had $65,000 tied up in it.  Maybe got a sore hand writing all those checks but probably didn't turn too many wrenches.  Was thinking if the front suspension isn't too horrible it should be an easy enough swap since they were offered with V-8s, just not chevy v-8s.  

Actually I think they put Chevrolet sbc's in the lark in the last few years:

General Motors (Chevrolet) V-Eight. Basically the standard 283 cubic inch Chevrolet engine used in Canadian produced Studebakers in 1965 and 1966. It is lighter than the Studebaker V-8 so cars equipped with this engine do not feel front heavy. Only available from the factory with a 2 barrel carburetor and single exhaust rated at 195 horsepower. A solid engine that works well with automatic, straight stick, or stick with overdrive. As with the Chevy six, parts for the V-8 are readily available, as is a broad range of performance equipment.
