I bought a 75 elcamino for $500 w/o an engine or tranny. Good title. It came out with a 454 block and a posi rear end. I have rear end and on the dash it has the SS emblem embedded into it but the shifter is on the column. Not sure if it is an actual SS. Body is in good condition but the floor pans are rusted through. Would you guys have bought it and do you think it is worth restoring?..one more question. I am rebuilding a 327 that had to be bored .040 over. Local parts stores have to special order pistons. Wouldn't pistons for a 350 .040 over be the same?

For 500, all I need are floor pans and glass to be in decent shape. Drop in a big block and beat it to death.
For the piston question, use summitracing.com to double check prices and part numbers.

To po_choppa. In response to your question. 350 pistons and 327 pistons have different distances from top of pistons to wrist pin bores. i think 327 wrist pin holes are closer to top than 350 pistons. this is due to stroke of crank and possibly rod length difference. these 327 pistons will work if used with 350 rods and 307 crank using 350 block. however, You will need to balance the assembly at machine shop for this to work. Due to extra cost, you will be better off buying 350 pistons,Which will be cheaper and less trouble

To po_choppa,sorry,I meant to tell you to buy 327 pistons since your block is 327 and not 350 pistons. My Bad. My cousin built a 4 bolt main 327 using 327 pistons,350 block, 350 connecting rods, and 307 crankshaft with assembly balanced at machine shop(balancing seriously required). The motor made awesome power. This set up gave better top end,but less take off.

I have a 73 el camino thats in the process of getting the 454 treatment. My Elky had a 350 in it and it ran. all glass was good too. but floors were in bad shape. make sure when you replace the floors you get all the cancer out and get the "smugglers box" area where the floorpans run uder the bed and behind the rear firewall. oh and i paid $2200 for mine.
